The Sigh

We often refer to Maggie as 'not our smartest kid'. She is totally different from Michael. Michael knew his colors before he was 2. Maggie, on the other hand, is so not like that. Just when I think she's gotten the color green, she'll point to a green thing and happily shout 'pink'.

But, she knows me.

As I was sitting here on the computer checking blogs she's been watching tv. I leaned back in the chair and stretched and sighed. She turned to me and said "No, it not nap time yet" and turned back to the tv.

How did she know that I was about to say that it was time to lay down?!?!

She probably knows a lot more than she is letting on to. She may even be guessing wrong on purpose. My daughter used to do that knowing I would say certain things (yes, even at two) My son knew how to tie his shoes long before I discovered he knew. He told me he just liked me doing it FOR him. I knew they both knew more than they let on to from the time they were little-but nothing prepared me for the day when they were in 4th or 5th grade and corrected MY grammar. LOL ME
