Last week Michael's first grade teacher announced to the class that she got another job and would not be back to school after Christmas break. The kids were devastated! Michael cried and cried. I think he finally fell asleep that night around 10 because he was up crying.
Well, we've been praying about it and our prayers have been answered! They hired a new teacher today and I've heard some great things about her. At first I thought that they may have made the decision too quickly. But, after talking it over with a friend, we decided that God knows best.
Just to clarify, Michael does not go to a 'Christian' school. It's a charter school. Basically, it's a public school that you can apply to go to and they choose students through a lottery system. But his school is filled with believers. It's nice to have the diversity of race and economics alongside the Christian beliefs and support.
So, when Michael returns from Christmas break he will basically be starting over. First grade is tough as it is for the little guys. It takes them a long time to get used to going all day and catching on to all the procedures. Now they'll have to do it all over again. But, we are trusting God through all of this and we know that with Him all things are possible.

It's interesting, though, how many people this has happened to. It's a lot more common than I would have thought or hoped.
Really? You thought he was in a Christian school? He did go to a Christian pre-school that was part of a Christian school. I loved it! But, it was super expensive and so not diverse! Not exactly the place for us.
i don't know why i thought that... i think because you mentioned he wore a uniform, so i just went there in my head. :)
i love that fact that he's in a diverse school. where we live is a lot like downtown plymouth (new englandy-type), but fortunately the school simon goes to is actually pretty darn diverse. we're part of the neighborhood school that primarily has the neighborhood south of us. that neighborhood is really great, but more diverse (a lot of "starter homes" for worthington)... and more rentals so there is even some socio-economic diversity. i'm glad for it. :)
